AZ Alkmaar vs RKC Waalwijk

The football weekend will be opened on Friday evening in Alkmaar when AZ will play against RKC. The home team is busy with an excellent season and seems to be the only challenger of champion favorite Ajax. Arne Slot has access to a talented, but young, selection that combines eagerness with offensive and smart football.

With Owen Wijndal, the club from Alkmaar also has the best back in the Netherlands, while players such as Stengs and Boadu are emphatically on the list of national coach Ronald Koeman while he is thinking about his European Championship selection for next summer. In short: the sun shines in Noord-Holland!

That is different at RKC. The sympathetic club from Brabant promoted to the Premier League last summer through an unforgettable apotheosis against Go Ahead Eagles. Unfortunately, RKC has not been able to set up a good premier league team. Of course that is not a shame, but the football fans from Waalwijk were probably hoping for more.

RKC will do everything in its power not directly downgrade, but that challenge gets bigger every week. Fred Grim does try to let his team play nice football to keep the audience entertained. That is also worth a compliment.

But AZ is of course a favorite and we expect AZ to win with at least two goals difference.
