Lecce vs Carpi

Failure to score last week left Lecce away from the top of Serie B, even threatened by a coup from the runner-up position. The revival mission was targeted on Saturday (13/4) when entertaining Carpi at the Stadio Via del Mare.

Sunday (7/4) then Lecce arrived at Cremonese headquarters, but had to play with 10 men since Mauro Vigorito was red carded on 24 minutes. The result was predictable, they gave up 2-0 through Luca Strizzolo’s brace without giving a reply. The defeat also marked the end of a period of successive wins that had been achieved by Lecce in the previous 3 matches. The good news is that the whole game was played on Via del Mare so the opportunity to get up was still so open.

Carpi himself managed to escape from the bottom of the standings after a 2-1 win over Calcio Padova. The visitors are now replacing this position after giving up goals from Fabio Concas and Andrea Arrighini, even though they were ahead with Jerry Mbakogu’s goal 12 minutes into the match. Carpi clearly didn’t want to return to the caretaker position so quickly. However, the shadow of bad results is still so clear after in 5 games before only reaping 1 draw and suffering 4 losses. With this capital, it will be difficult to just steal a draw on Via del Mare, especially Lecce is so fertile lately with a notch 12 goals and only conceded 1 time in 3 matches there. If that’s the case, Carpi can only hope for the help of goddess Fortuna to hold the host draw, as in the last visit in June 2013 ago.

Our Prediction: Over 2.5

Odds: 1.87
