Vitesse vs Ajax

Oussama Tannane, Riechedly Bazoer and Kostas Lamprou. Those are excellent names that Vitesse managed to hold on to this summer. Add to that less well-known gods and the various mercenaries and then Vitesse seems to have another excellent year. Arnhem is still not a real football city where stadiums are filled up, but still: those who know how to find their way to Gelredome can come into their own.

Whoever were in their element were the supporters of Ajax in the last year. The people of Amsterdam showed very beautiful things, especially at the European level. Ajax just slipped through the final of the Champions League, but the championship and the KNVB cup could be celebrated by trainer Ten Hag and his men.

The big question is how Ajax will fare without flavors De Ligt and De Jong. They opted for adventures at Juventus and Barcelona and a well-filled wallet. That is no shame, but a hefty loss for Ajax. Fortunately Donny van de Beek is still on board. He, perhaps the most important Ajax player, will probably play in Amsterdam for another year.

Vitesse can hope for a great performance in that first match against Ajax, but when the Amsterdam motorbike starts running …
