Vitesse vs FC Groningen

For a long time, Vitesse was a favorite to finish in fourth place this season. In Arnhem they played well and the points were apparently easily brought in, but there are some cracks in the Vitesse stronghold.

First there was the misguided arrogance of Riechedly Bazoer, who was immediately reinstated after a conversation. And now the lowest point has been reached by a defeat at FC Emmen. That, of course, with all due respect for Emmen, is not good for a club with the ambitions that Vitesse has. The people from Arnhem are nevertheless in fifth place, but they have to keep winning.

To a lesser extent, that also applies to FC Groningen. They visit Arnhem on Friday and are in ninth place in the Premier League. FC Groningen is in a good flow. The ambition in the Martini city will be clear: people want to qualify for the play-offs for European football.

That is feasible, but it is doubtful whether Groningen can then play a significant role in those play-offs. The season is now almost 13 rounds and not halfway. The prizes will be distributed just before the summer, but every point that Groningen has stuck in the house is nice.

We think Vitesse will win this competition if it can regain some of its shape.

Our Prediction: 1

Odds: 1.98
